Porch Roof Replacement-Clinton St, Toronto

Project Requirement

• Porch roof to be converted from degrading and collapsing sloped roof into flat roof.

• Ceiling and trim work to be replaced with cedar soffit boards.

• LVL beam to be installed to support all the weight.

• Turn the flat roof into a walkable surface minimizing use of wood and other composite materials.

Process

After removing everything in porch from roof deck, rafters, joists, aluminum soffits and gutters, our carpenter Tom began his work rebuilding porch roof and turning into a small balcony oasis.

New joists and LVL beam were installed. We used Durable Flexstone liquid membrane system to water-tighten the roof which can be easily walked. Appearance and durability of this product saves on labour and material cost since no wood deck is required to be installed on top of it.

New door from AWA windows and doors was installed after wall was cut for the door opening. Nice finish on stucco was blended in with existing one from our friends from Elstructure Construction.

Ceiling under porch roof was complimented with 2 1/2 in. Wide with cedar boards.

End Result

A happy homeowner with a nice spot for the family to read a book or drink a beer.
