The Problem

Step 1: Flue Replacement

Step 2: Waterproofing the Chimney Cap

On a separate day, Albert returned to apply Alsan flashing with mesh tape across the entire concrete cap. This step created a watertight seal, protecting the chimney against future water infiltration. He also used painter’s tape during application to control dripping and ensure a clean, sharp finish around the flue.

The Result

With a new flue, fresh mortar, and a fully waterproofed cap, the chimney is now secure and leak-free. The homeowner can rest easy knowing water will no longer penetrate into the basement.
