Customer contacted us to assess a leaky skylight. Existing skylight was what we professionals call “self flashed”. These types of skylights are the worst design when it comes to making sure of waterproofing them. They are made from very primitive manufacturers, where their goal is making money out of junk product. You would wonder why we are so outraged of such manufacturers? Yes we are, it is actually easier to design and make a long lasting product that will only leak due to installation and not the product itself. As you can see on photos we took our time to sprayfoam all gaps between new wood frame and shaft. We also use top of the line ice and water shield suggested from the skylight manufacturer Velux.
