The customer contacted The Roof Whisperer with concerns about a large hole in the wood soffit. The damage had developed over time due to a previous flat roof leak. Although another contractor had repaired the leak a couple of years ago, the soffit eventually collapsed because of ongoing wood rot and decay. During our inspection, we also identified a fascia board in poor condition. This damage was not immediately visible to the homeowner but became clear upon closer examination.

Our Repair Plan

To resolve the issues, our team prepared a detailed estimate that included:

• Replacing the damaged soffit in two areas with pine tongue and groove wood boards (3.5” wide).

• Installing a new fascia board that matched the existing dimensions.

• Adding durable fascia capping to protect the fresh wood and extend its lifespan.

• Priming and painting the new boards to create a polished finish that blends seamlessly with the existing structure.
